October

We have had a wonderful month so far:

We found a local park with an archery range. The girls love going to open range!

Chris ran Dances With Dirt a few weeks ago. Here he is, showing off his cool medal. It doubles as a bottle opener! His favorite medal of all time!

Harvesting carrots at the community garden:

And look how big our eggplants are!

Buying four dozen ears of sweet corn at the farmers market - for freezing.

My dahlias are amazing this year!

Meg joined the Eco Eagles club at school, and she made a leaf print shirt at the first meeting:

Meg holding the two little butternut squashes we grew this year. They were delicious! Meg helped me peel them and scoop out the seeds.

Jessica and her friend admiring the deer family in our front yard. They are regular visitors under our crabapple tree. We see them a few times a day! They don't mind if a car pulls in the driveway, or if a kid goes outside on the front porch to watch them!

Meg after a spirit council meeting at school. This month, the service project was for the Michigan Humane Society. The kids made blankets, chew toys, and cat houses. Here's the cat house Megan helped to decorate:

Back at the archery range yesterday:

Today, we had two soccer games. Katie scored a goal in her game!! Jessica scored at least four in hers. We walked to DQ to celebrate! :)
