Happy Halloween!

I got to help in Jessica's class party today:

I also helped in Megan's class party today, but didn't want to embarrass her by taking lots of pictures!

When we got home, we started carving pumpkins:

Katie went trick or treating with friends. She was a zombie:

Jess was a fox, and Meg was Laura Ingalls:

It rained lightly the entire day and night, but the girls stayed out for nearly two hours!

All Star!

Our little Meg played in the U9 all star game tonight. She was a superstar in all positions, from goalie to forward. She took many shots on goal, but none of them made it in. She really played her heart out, running up and down the field over and over. One kick was soooo close to going in! The game ended in a tie, 1-1. Meg got a super cool medal:

We all went out to Chili's for fajitas to celebrate! Meg got the Reese's PB cup molten sundae! (And shared with all of us)

This week

We had a busy week! Joe and steph were here through Monday. Tuesday was Jessi's last soccer practice. Wednesday was Jessi's last tball game (in costume! She went as a soccer player) and Megan's last soccer practice. Here's her team picture:

We checked on our new community garden plot. I asked for a free plot at the end of the summer, and promised to donate all veggies. Not bad for starting late! Lots of radishes, turnips, and Swiss chard. I don't know why, but I had terrible germination of carrots, beets, spinach, and lettuce. There's a hoop house over the garden now.

The end of the week was a blur of play dates, ballet classes, Katie's middle school Halloween dance, religious Ed, a small party at our house, and more! Plus we have a new niece/cousin, little Violet!!

Saturday was a crazy soccer day. At Megan's game, the other team didn't have enough players, so meg - AND JESS! - played for the other team! Meg almost had about five goals against her team, but none if them made it in. Jess was very good on defense! Jessi's last soccer game was right afterward. She was soooo tired, but still scored four or five goals! All three girls took a nap late that afternoon!

On Sunday, we went to Spooky Skate with friends! Open skate in costume! Katie went as a dancer:

Megan went as a soccer player, since she had a game right afterward. Jessica went as the fox - from our favorite song right now, what does the fox say?!

Then Megan went to her last soccer game straight from the rink, all bruised up and tired. But she was on fire at the game and scored three goals!!

She was invited to play in the U9 All Star game on Wednesday, so she has one last game left.

Fall fun

We've gone on a few nature walks this month. Here's our favorite tree:

The trail by the cider mill:

Meg the tree climber:

Cute girls!

This is what Jess and I do during sisters' soccer games. Play catch! She loves her t-ball!

Katie's soccer team:

Meg is getting good at fishtail braids. She likes to play with my hair while I read LHOP to her each night. (Little House, we're on Silver Lake now)

Katie at art club at school, with her friend Meggy. They got their sketch approved, and are now painting their ceiling tile:

This is what happens when I come home with a bag of books from the library:

Jessica went to Zoo Boo with her friend Adeline:

Katie is almost as tall as Grandma!

Joe and Steph visited us this past weekend. We took them to the cider mill!

We walked the trails, and daredevil Megan wanted to walk out on these trees:

We had a bonfire:

On Monday, I took Joe and Steph to Slows BBQ in Detroit. Amazing Mac n cheese! I hear the meat is pretty good, too. They were impressed with the beer list, 56 craft brews on tap!

This is the last week for tball and soccer. We're having fun but are looking forward to a break!

Pumpkin Festival

Before our soccer games this afternoon, we went to our city's annual pumpkin festival. We couldn't stay long, but had time to carve three pumpkins for the stone wall!
