Another tooth gone!

Jess has been walking around like this for a while:

But then last night, at dinner, it finally fell out! In a bite of pasta, of all things!

Ready for the tooth fairy!

Science fair

Last week was the elementary school science fair. The girls made great projects!

It was also the school open house night, so we visited the girls' classrooms:

We walked downtown on Fri night to see the Deck Art Festival (art on skateboards). It was very cool! The girls got distracted by the well:

And the food trucks! We got beignets, they were a big hit! Except for weird Megan, who thought they had too much powdered sugar.

See? There's barely any powdered sugar!!

We had a weekend full of soccer games, plus we hosted dinner for friends Sat night. We went on a long nature walk on Sun, and a shorter one tonight. Tonight we saw heron nests, each with a parent on top!

Mother's Day

My celebration began on Friday, with a tea party in Jessica's class. We had tea, cookies, and song and dance!

Jess made me a tea cup, a necklace, a corsage, a book all about me, and a flower:

Then I was really spoiled on Sunday!

After a yummy breakfast and church, we got family photos taken at a local garden. I can't wait to see how they turned out ! Also, I got beautiful flowers:

We had a lot of school work to do on Sunday...our only day without games or activities! Here's Chris helping meg with her shoebox project on the Soo Locks:

We went out for a late lunch to...Sumo Sushi, of course! Katie got the spicy combo:

Jess had the Cali combo:

Meg got a lunch box:

And so did we!

Back home for more school work. Here's Jess' science fair project, which brand of raisin bran has the most raisins:

Then we went on a long walk! Jess sniffed a few too many dandelions:

Our walk devolved into a water fight. Jess kept squirting Chris, so he would squirt her back.

It kept going and going...

Until there were tears! Haha! Jessica didn't get the hint that daddy had more water AND better aim!

Crazy May

At Katie's school open house, showing off her element superhero poster:

Teaching the girls how to open a locker:

One day I let Katie go to the local carnival with her friends! It was really weird to drop her off! (There was a parent with them)

Great daffodil year:

Little Meg is a fabulous reader. She reads for twenty min a day, every day!

I haven't taken many soccer pics yet. We have 4-5 games per weekend, and each girl and their team is doing very well! Here's Katie:

Here's Jess:

Our first bonfire of the season. Megan the pyro helped me start it:

Hummingbird!! We have a very cute pair who are regular visitors. We still call them "redneck" hummingbirds!

Megan and fellow third graders in the school's Eco Eagles club built this raised garden bed!

Then the club mixed the soil-less mix and planted veggies (that they grew) right away!

We also have a cute pair of Orioles who are regular visitors to our deck. They like the hummy feeder as well as fresh fruit.

Jess has a pet weevil (not a tick) as her pal one afternoon. This is totally normal !

Katie's choir concert:

She was in a trio for one of the songs!

We went out for FroYo after her concert:

I got to chaperone Jessica's field trip to a nature center last week.

Bragging

The girls' report cards came home a week or so ago. I just have to show off how great they are!

We're so proud of the girls for their hard work. This might have been a tough transitional year at their new schools, but instead it has been a total success all around! They are challenged, doing very well, and most importantly, are very happy.
