Alpena

We are having a fun time in Alpena! We came up to help paint in Mary and Justin's new house. It has been slow going (mostly due to kids) but we are making progress!

Mary brought slurpees to the priming crew:

Katie loves using the roller!

Meg and Jess were on low detail work:

We took a lunch break to pick up jimmy johns and have a picnic at the beach!

Last night, we went to the Kraffts for some long lake fun! Katie and Jess took a spin on the jetski with mr krafft:

We all went out for a pontoon boat ride:

And we played at the sandbar:

Every kid got a chance to drive the boat on the way home. It was a very twisty ride home!

We had a delish BBQ and played games in the yard. Justin painted these corn hole boards:

This morning we had an adventure before painting. It took a while, but we got this guy out of the house:

The walls in GG's room are pretty much done. Here's a calmer Mary working on trim:

Visit from the kids after a trip to the farmers market:

Dance party in the kitchen = an overexcited Sammy and a puddle of dog pee. Jess was right in the middle of it:

More adventures to come, I'm sure!!

  2. No, the bat is fine. He was hiding under some painting tools/carpet in the hallway upstairs, and scared the crap out of Mary!! Justin the exterminator covered him with a towel, scooped him into a bucket, and took him outside. He clung really tightly to the towel, it was hard to get him off! Then he sat on the grass (see pic) panting a lot. After a few minutes, he army-crawled to a nearby telephone pole and climbed up about 15 feet. He hung out there all day, then flew away at night. Hopefully not back into the house, though!
