Alpena part 2

We realizes early on that painting wasn't going well when kids were involved. So we had one adult hang with the kids so the other adult(s) could paint. We got some great quality time with GG! Katie is the best babysitter ever, she was so patient, so nice, so creative, etc. she even got him down for a nap one day without a single peep!

Sat afternoon I took the girls to Rockport to hunt for fossils at the quarry. We could have spent all day there! "Mom, look at this one!"

We went to the boat slip and old pier at Rockport, and did some exploring. The blues of the clear water were incredible! These pics don't do it justice at all!

We found a little friend right by Megan and the pilings! We watched this friendly little guy for a long time!

During more exploring, meg nearly stepped on another water snake! This one was tiny:

More fossil hunting along the shore:

Back home, counting rocks with GG:

No pics of other adventures, including delish meals, a walk downtown for ice cream, a walk along the bay, a pizza lunch at the beach, frolicking on the sandbar, or the girls' "bakery" in the sand on the beach.

On our way home, we took a detour to the DQ for a cone on the beach!

We also stopped at a blueberry farm on the drive home. They were the best blueberries ever! And so cheap!

Jessi demonstrating how she thinks GG would pick blueberries! He is short enough to eat them right off the bush!

Our haul! It was only $7 something for all these (plus all we munched on at the farm)!

We got home late last night, and are happy to be home after yet another great vacation!
