Trip to Pennsylvania

Before I get to our Pennsylvania trip, I want to sneak in a few pics of Jessi ice skating today! She did great! She likes to hold a hand, and was pretty wobbly of course, but she did a fair amount of skating all by herself. Chris bribed her with silly bands to skate all the way around the cones by herself, and she did it! She is excited to take skating classes when she turns 3. (I don't know how I'm going to fit in that class...maybe in the winter...)

Katie & Meg did great, they didn't miss a beat from their last skating class in the spring. It was fun to dig out our snow pants and gloves on a 90+ degree August day!

OK, on to our trip to Pennsylvania. Last Monday and Tuesday, Mom C. took me and the girls to Pennsylvania to visit Grandpa Hubicz. I don't think he really knew who the girls were, much less what their names were, but he REALLY loved seeing them and playing with them! It was soooo cute! Jessica, in particular, took to him and snuggled with him and he loved it.

Monday night we took Grandpa out to dinner to a Chinese buffet place. He was so helpful with the girls, running to get them more shrimp when he found out they liked shrimp, cutting up the fruit for Jessica, and getting cookies and ice cream for the girls. It reminded me of when I was a little girl, and if he found out I liked something, he would get TONS of it for me! He still has the same, over-generous spirit!
Then we went to Aunt Kathy & Uncle John's house to hang out for the evening. We got tours of their amazing gardens, and then Aunt Kathy broke out the cornhole game. The girls loved it! But Erik won (he's been practicing). Justin and Jinine and Ella stopped by for a while, it was so nice to catch up with them. Ella was a doll (13 months old)!

Tuesday morning we went to a diner for breakfast and the girls got the kiddy pancake meal. The chocolate chip pancakes were HUGE!! We had enough for breakfast the next day, too!

Then we went back to Grandpa's to say goodbye. He thought it would be fun to jump on the bed, so he encouraged the girls to do it! We were wondering what his neighbors were thinking of all the clunking, laughing, and screaming going on!

Whenever we walked anywhere, Jessica reached up to grab his hand so they could walk together. Those two were inseparable. Grandpa bragged to everyone we met, "This is my family! Aren't they beautiful?" It was such a nice visit.

Then we drove back to Graytown to Mom & Dad C's house. The girls missed their Grandpa!

And they missed Beau! There was lots of snuggling that night! Poor Grandpa!
