Pictured rocks day 3

Chris still has most of the backpacking pictures on his phone. I've tried blogging from his phone, but it won't work. I'll upload them to the computer and try again tonight.

Here's day 3. By now, we had hiked 8+ miles and camped two nights. The weather and scenery were awesome, but the mosquitos were absolutely terrible!

Breakfast in our camp kitchen - oatmeal:

Jess packed up for the hike back to the van:

Crossing one of many bridges on our short, two mile hike:

Lots of ferns:

Pretty view from a bridge:

No pics at the van, but boy were we happy to see a pit toilet and a air conditioned seat with no mosquitos!

We picked up pasties from the corner store, then drove to Newberry to Oswald Bear Ranch. It came highly recommended by a friend, but it was really sad to see the bears in these pens.

We threw apples to these juveniles:

This female liked us:

She followed us around for a while!

Then we drove to Tahquamenon Falls! Meg was so happy!

  1. Next you'll have to come do some backpacking here in Colorado where there are less mosquitoes :)
