Philadelphia part 2

On Saturday morning we did more sightseeing. Philly is such a walkable city!

The famous LOVE sculpture:

The old city hall, in the center of downtown:

We had breakfast here:

It's a cool market with over 30 restaurants and loads of little shops:

We walked into Macy's to see the light and organ show:

We toured a cathedral:

We saw The Thinker on our way to the art museum:

View from the top steps of the art museum, downtown Philly in the background:

Chris in his victorious Rocky pose at the top of the steps:

There were tons of people here, where Rocky was filmed. There was even a 50k on saturday, ending at the top of the steps right when we were here!!

We got into the art museum for a few min for free, to warm up, by visiting the gift shop. It was awesome, I wish I had a whole day to walk around.

We went back to Reading Market for lunch. Chris had a huge brisket sandwich:

Then we got all fancy for the wedding!

On our way out of our hotel, the Lions were coming in! They stayed at our hotel!

Gorgeous wedding:

Gorgeous reception:

We left around 11:30pm, in time to watch the last few min of the MSU win!! Go State!!

Sunday morning, we went out to breakfast with lots of family members. Then Chris and I walked around to see a few more sights and parks. It started to snow. Hard. Did you see the Lions game? That's what we were in!

By the time we needed to leave for the airport, the roads were so bad that the hotel couldn't get a taxi or shuttle for us. We walked to a train station and took a train to the airport. We could see from the train that the highways were all at standstills due to accidents. On our train ride, we got a text that our flight was canceled. At the airport, we were able to rebook to Minneapolis then Detroit. But that flight kept being delayed til we never could have made the second flight. Then we were rebooked to a Monday 6am flight. Then that was canceled! Then we were rebooked for a Tuesday flight...but were able to switch to a Monday 7am flight. Amazingly, we found a hotel room near the airport, and made the 7am flight home. Home sweet home never felt so good!

Many many thanks to mom and dad c for taking such good care of the girls for us! And for staying an extra day! We had a wonderful vacation in Philly.

  1. Crazy flight and weather story--we watched the whole game and I just kept laughing because it was so ridiculous! I can't believe the team stayed at your hotel, it must have been fancy.

Ps was it always sunny? (Carter and I are watching that series on Netflix now!)

  2. No, it was barely sunny at all! Fog, rain, clouds, snow! I haven't seen that show, is it good?
