First Day of Spring Break
I realize I'm a month behind in the blog, but I'll start posting today and fill in the March pictures when I can. It's April, so let's get crackin'! Today the girls started spring break. This means no school, preschool, choir, ballet, or Spanish club for ten whole days- a true vacation! We decided to stay home this break and hit all of the local highlights. Chris is just returning from two weeks in Italy tonight, and he can't get next week off work anyway. It will be so nice for all of us to have a week at home. This morning we started spring break with a trip to a nature center and to Bloomer Park to play on the playground for the first time this spring. The girls also biked/scootered around the park and collected lots of "treasures" like rocks, pinecones, and an old tennis ball. No pics from the morning fun, sorry. For lunch I took the girls to McD's and used the coupons that G&G Christensen sent to the girls. They loved getting a "free lunch" plus an ice cream cone! Thanks! Next we went to our city's historical museum and farm. We spent a long time in the kiddy room and played with the pioneer toys. Plus Megan built a log cabin: The highlight of the trip was learning about the art of rug hooking. The museum had a great exhibit and two people on hand to demonstrate the work. They taught each of the girls how to do it! Katie is "hooked" and the women gave her a ziploc full of wool strips to start her very own project. All we need is some burlap and a crochet hook and she can begin! After seeing all of the the museum's indoor displays, we toured the grounds. They have great gardens and we walked along Stoney Creek and threw lots of sticks and rocks in the river. Then the girls treated me to a dance performance in the gazebo: We hoped to go to the pool this afternoon, but the girls (and I) were truly tired out from all of the fresh air and excitement, so we came home early to cook a nice dinner and wind down. Chris should be home soon!

ReplyDeletedid Joe come visit?
ReplyDeleteYep, Joe came on Thurs but I just posted Friday's happenings. We had fun, he got to see the girls' Spanish club singalong, we went out to eat at Pei Wei, we played outside a bit, and we played Wii bowling.
