The girls and I picked a great rustic site this morning, at the county campground 15 miles north of us where we always camp on Labor Day weekend. We set up our tent, beds, and "kitchen." We saw storms were on their way so we headed home, and it was a good thing, because there was a severe thunderstorm warning this afternoon.
We came back to the campground a few hours ago, but another storm popped up. We hung out in the van through the thunder and lightning when all of a sudden a tree fell down right in front of our van!
It doesn't look big but it was about 6 to 8 inches diameter. The top part you can see is just a small branch. We had to wait a while for the county crew to come out and chop up the tree and let us out.
The girls were super traumatized...what if it had been on our tent??!! The thunder continued to roll. So we came home. They are having a sleepover in Meg's room tonight.
Storms are predicted off and on all weekend long...this could be an interesting camping trip!

oh no, I hope they aren't scarred for life! I do understand the meaning of signs though, perhaps that was just a sign that this is not a good camping weekend....!
