Grandpa and girls in chocolate room. We got a chocolate sample, of course! |
On Wednesday, we got up early so we could take him out to breakfast.
Breakfast at Tiffany's has the best kid's meals ever! |
(no EB pics, b/c Grandpa was furious that they charged $13/pic and you couldn't use your own camera. I wasn't planning on paying that much, but it was cute how protective he was of me!)
Then we went to Buhl Park to let the girls run wild on some playgrounds. He and I had some nice talks while watching the girls. We drove over to the lake and reminisced some more while we walked around.
Then it was back to the Shenango Inn for Grandpa. We had thoroughly worn him out, although he wouldn't admit it. We had a wonderful time with him, and the girls were very patient with his many questions. They loved his stories and his napkin drawings! And he loved showing them off to everyone he met, and he loved being with them. What a wonderful visit.
We had an adventure on our drive home...I blew a tire on the highway in Warren, Ohio. My smart minivan's tire sensor went from 27psi to 14 to 7 to 0 in about ten seconds. (a large stick punctured the rear passenger tire) I got safely off the road by 7psi, and called AAA for help. A state cop pulled behind me within minutes and stayed with me til the AAA guy came. They directed me to a Walmart one exit away, and I hobbled there on my donut. But Walmart didn't have my size of tire, and neither did the next tire store down the road. But the next tire store did have a used tire my size, and they installed it in ten minutes for only $35. What a miracle! I made it safely to Dad C's house that afternoon, and safely home this morning. Belle Tire replaced my tire for free (since I had just bought four new tires on Friday) so I now have a matched set again. I can't believe what good luck I had! (considering the bad luck)
